Note: Acceptance testing refers to the testing done as a part of the manufacturing process to ensure that our devices meet performance expectations before shipment.

UAS Pilot and Calibration Engineer for RESEPI

This position will perform acceptance testing on our RESEPI (Remote Sensing Payload Instrument) products, support customers, and perform RESEPI product demonstrations. In this role, the applicant selected will have the opportunity to have their FAA Part 107 Exam sponsored by Inertial Labs, where they will then receive their UAS Pilot’s License. This position includes mounting RESEPI units to be tested on our aerial drones and then performing flight tests on the device. The data is analyzed to boresight the unit (find the alignment angles between the different components of the RESEPI unit), confirm that the unit is performing to our specifications, and document all results. This position requires attention to detail and quality communication skills within a team environment.

Acceptance Test Engineer for the INS, MRU, and AHRS product lines

This position will be responsible for performing standard static testing and dynamic testing of Inertial Labs production units for the INS (Inertial Navigation System), MRU (Motion Reference Unit), and AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference Systems) product lines as a part of our standard manufacturing process. In case of any issues encountered with the units during acceptance testing, the Acceptance Test Engineer will be responsible for documenting the problem (s), troubleshooting solutions (with assistance from the senior engineers), and opening a quality notice for repairing the unit if necessary. The Acceptance Test Engineer is also responsible for configuring production units to fit customer applications based on configurations provided by senior engineers. In addition, the Acceptance Test Engineer assists senior engineers in firmware and hardware performance tests while developing new firmware and products.

Calibration and Acceptance Test Engineer for the OptoAHRS product line and Government Contracting Support

This position will primarily perform magnetic and camera calibrations for our OptoAHRS (Optical Attitude and Heading Reference Systems) products, conduct various production tests and execute acceptance and firmware development testing for our OptoAHRS products. Testing for our OptoAHRS products involves setting up a mortar in our outdoor testing area and changing its orientation throughout the test. Required tests evaluate the OptoAHRS device’s specific components, and a theodolite is part of the reference for verifying the device’s accuracy. In addition to conducting calibrations and tests, this position may involve various projects and report writing for government contracts, developing scripts to automate OptoAHRS production processes and OptoAHRS data analysis.

Production Automation Engineer

This position will maintain and improve our current automation scripts and create and document new ones to make our manufacturing processes faster, more straightforward to execute, more error-proof, and self-documenting. Our existing automation scripts include a data analysis script for dynamic test data from the acceptance test procedures for our INS, MRU, and AHRS products (see above), an automation script for changing authorization codes on our GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receivers, and a parameter modification script for quickly and repeatably changing parameters on our products during our manufacturing processes. The primary computer languages for this position are Python and MATLAB. This position will also provide periodic presentations to senior engineers on designing, developing, and implementing new production automation scripts.
