Tier 2 PDA Certificate

Inertial Labs Receives Tier 2 PDA Certificate from ABS for MRU

All members of the Inertial Labs MRU product line have been granted a Tier-2 Product Design Assessment (PDA) Certificate by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

Paeonian Springs, VA: Through technical evaluation of the Inertial Labs MRU products, representatives of ABS assessed the related assembly drawings, design, datasheets, etc. They issued a Tier-2 PDA Certificate (Serial number 19-HS1851412-PDA) for all product line members. This PDA ensures that the products do not require Unit Certification to be installed on ABS-classed vessels, MODU, or facilities that are in existence or under contract for construction on the date of the ABS Rules and Specifications used for the evaluation.

Furthermore, by determining Pitch & Roll, Heave, Sway, Surge, Accelerations, Angular rates, Heading, Velocity, and Positions, the Inertial Labs MRU products are recognized as suitable for use with Dynamic Positioning Systems (DPS-1, DPS-2, DPS-3). According to the PDA, the performance of the models reaches 0.05 meters in Heave Accuracy and 0.02 degrees in Pitch & Roll Accuracy through an operating temperature range from -40 °C to 70 °C.
Inertial Labs MRU product line includes four distinct models to cover a wide range of marine and offshore applications: Basic (MRU-B), Enhanced (MRU-E), Professional (MRU-P), and Survey Set (MRU-PD).

Utilizing state-of-the-art algorithms and MEMS sensors, Inertial Labs MRU is used for real-time, high-frequency measurements of Vessels, Ships, Helidecs, ROVs, Marine antennas, Crane rotation, etc. Through proven industry expertise and continuous investment in R&D, Inertial Labs offers its customers the best price-performance ratio within the position and navigation marketplace.
The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is one of the largest maritime classification societies, with over 12,000 commercial vessels and offshore facilities. Its core mission is to promote the security of life, property, and the natural environment, primarily through developing and verifying standards for the design, construction, and operational maintenance of marine and offshore assets. It develops standards and technical specifications, known collectively as the ABS Rules & Guides. These Rules form the basis for assessing the design, construction, and integrity of new and existing vessels, marine technology, and marine structures.
